Trotting - Harness Racing

These photographs were taken at Stanhope Agricultural show in 2008. 

The top image was taken using a slow shutter speed (1/25 sec) and I panned the camera to follow the moving horse, the idea was to enhance the movement and render the background slightly blurred.

The bottom image was taken at the first bend when all the horses were still close together. I used a long lens to foreshorten the distance between each of the horses. I used a faster shutter speed (1/250 sec) to stop the action and freeze the movement.
