The Old Transformers, East Castle nr Stanley.

These statues are sited on the side of the C2C cycle way in County Durham. The artist David Kemp has created a reminder of the two heavy industries that formed the local landscape and dominated its people - Coal mining and Steel works!  They are built from the heaviest steel available, and the pair weigh over 14 tons and are 20 feet high. It may take some time before this steel rusts right back into the earth again.

I montaged the pair against a clear blue sky, however I felt that colour did not suit these statues co converted them to monochrome. I then added a layer of noise and used the artists own words to produce a literal border to the image.
