Alpine pastures, Switzerland

In Switzerland, the tree line is usually around 1900 meters above sea level. Shrubs tend to be more resistant to rough weather conditions than trees and therefore may grow at higher elevations than trees.

This view was taken from Sarnen looking South East towards the Alpine mountains through the Sustan pass. I knew the image would lend itself to a panorama so I took several photographs of the scene intending to join them later in photoshop. It is important to ensure sufficient overlap on each of the photographs as there will be some distortion at the edges of each of them. For this reason I usually take the images as portraits rather than the expected landscape orientation, it needs more images but there is less distortion. This image is made up of 7 images.
