Saltwick Bay, North Yorkshire, I took this image during a short break in the area in October 2006, I had previously seen lots of images of the ship wreck and hoped to take some of my own. On the day of my visit the sun was shining and there was very few clouds in the sky, however it was blowing a hurricane. The wind was not only blowing sand and sea water every where but was also blowing tiny shreds of rock around that it was stripping from every rock face. I deliberately took the photograph from a very low angle to include as much of the cloud detail as possible (and to protect me and the camera from the wind blown debris. I then converted the image to monochrome and toned it as the blue sky detracted from the colour image. Canon 30D, Canon 17-85mm IS lens. |
