Rose stem in Vase,

I am not into symbolism and am not trying to create any subliminal message by the placement of the petals. However It is only when you try to set up still life subjects that you suddenly realise how difficult it is to make simple subjects look natural.

I placed the vase on a white piece of card, bent over to produce a seamless background. To create almost shadow-less lighting I constructed a light tent out of some white net curtain, which diffused and softened the light coming through the conservatory windows. I believe that this set up was particularly complimentary for the flower but less so for the glass vase. But like in all forms of photography, it is something that I will build upon and adapt to eventually create a suitable lighting set up for this type of subject.
