River reflections, Reflections of one sort or another often give a real element of interest to a picture. The sky mirrored in the lake has long been a staple of the landscape photographer and the mirror has featured in portrait images since the dawn of photography. Usually the reflection is included to balance the image and used with the original subject. In this photograph however I have used the reflections of the riverbank trees only to add a saturated colour to an otherwise colourless background. The trees themselves are not identifiable to the viewer and only their colour gives away their identity. I focused on the rocks and ripples in the water and let the reflection go out of focus, so they did not compete as the point of interest. Pentax *ist D Sigma 28 - 135 mm lens. |
