Globe Flower (Trollius europaeus)

This larger-than-others member of the Ranunculus family reaches a height of 50 cm. The globe flower is often found in wet meadows and sometimes occurs in damp woodland and scrub areas. Where they do occur, globe flowers can form large clumps and create a wonderful splash of colour during their blooming season in June, July and August.

I filled the frame and focused upon the centre of the flower as I felt the natural dew created an interesting image. I then chose to produce the print as a high key image, accentuating the highlights, changing it from a natural history shot into a more artistic or pictorial image.
