Oman sailor,

This photograph was taken at the Newcastle / Gateshead stop over of the 2005 Tall ships race. The Tall Ships’ Races 2005, organised by Sail Training International, took place in the Western Approaches, the English Channel and the North Sea in July and August, the boats remained in port at Newcastle Gateshead between 25th and 28th July.

This image was a composite of two photographs, the portrait and the background. It was impossible to achieve a good backdrop location due to the size of the crowds. I cut out the portrait from the cluttered background using photoshop's extract tool, then imported another more appropriate background taken on the same day.
