Making Butter,

Taken at Aydon Castle, Northumberland during a re-enactment of the War of the Roses. The English Heritage property was the scenic backdrop for the 'Soldiers of the Roses' who dressed up in period costume and put on numerous displays within the grounds of the fortified manor house.

Even though this was taken outside in bright sunshine, I chose to use a flash unit with a diffuser fitted to my camera. The flash was set to -1.5 stops so that it did not become the dominant light source but  added some light to fill in the shadows, especially under the brim of the hat.
