Pond at Low Barns nature reserve, Co. Durham. Low Barns Nature Reserve is a 50 hectare wetland site with areas of mixed woodland and grassland. The Reserve is situated on an ex-gravel extraction site, which has been managed by Durham Wildlife Trust since operations ended in 1964. Wetland features include three lakes, interconnecting streams, a number of mature ponds, and a wet pasture. The River Wear also flows through the reserve. Landscape photography does not always have to be wide panorama shots of the countryside, sometimes small detail shots that pick out part of the scene can convey more of an impression than the whole overall scene. Here I've picked out a small part of a pond and used the marginal plant life as foreground interest. The image however reminds me more of the location and the day out than any wide vista could have achieved. Pentax ME super Pentax 28mm lens. |
