Krakow, Poland

Retaining its old-world ambience and charm, Krakow is the prettiest of Poland's main cities, having escaped the worst of the WWII bombing. The former Polish capital's atmospheric Old Town and the Jewish district Kazimierz's streets are crammed with exciting galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

So much to see and all within easy walking distance - Wawel Royal Castle, the striking 14th-century St Mary's Basilica and the huge 10-acre Main Market Square, the largest in Europe.

I was lucky enough to time my visit and see the Krakow Photography Exhibition, which ran for a full month and had many open air displays as well as the usual gallery displays of both local and international photographers.

After a while people don't even see him.

They can even eat their burgers next to him whilst he sleeps.
