Kiwi Fruit (Actinidithia chinensis), The kiwifruit is native to the Yangtze River valley of northern China and Zhejiang Province on the coast of eastern China. The first seeds were brought out of China by
missionaries to New Zealand at the turn of this century. The kiwi fruit is a small fruit approximately 3 inches long and weighing about four ounces. Its green flesh is almost creamy in consistency with an invigorating taste reminiscent of strawberries, melons and bananas, yet with its own unique sweet flavor.
The Kiwi is packed with more vitamin C than an equivalent amount of orange,
Californian kiwi fruit is available November through May, while the New Zealand crop hits the market June through October making fresh kiwis available year round. I placed the fruit in the chrome egg cup and positioned it on a white card bent to form a seamless background. I then placed a reflector on the left side to reflect light from the window on the right. I initially tried the photograph using one fruit as in the bottom photograph, however I was not happy with the composition as I felt it looked unbalanced. I believe the top photograph has a better balance and feel to the composition, this is because an odd number of objects work better than an even number. By using three objects, two fruit in egg cups and the top of the fruit, I have created an image that allows the viewers eye to be taken around the image in a triangular manner, no matter where the viewer looks there is a natural route around all of the other areas.
