Jim,

This portrait was taken during a club portrait workshop at Consett Photographic Society. Jim being the father-in-law of one of the members.

2 Studio flash heads were used to illuminate Jim, to create an atmospheric image. I positioned the flashes not only to create the right effect but also to produce a single catchlight in Jim's eyes. This is very important as more than one catchlight not only looks distracting but looks false. 

I feel this image is possibly too confusing due to the colours in Jim's shirt, please check out the same image in my monochrome section for comparison.
