Child photography whether posed or candid is often dismissed as 'not proper' photography. Usually the only images shown in photographic circles are of street urchins in some far off un-developed country, British children are not seen as suitable subject matter any more in our forever more politically correct society. This is such a pity because as all parents know, children make such a wonderful subject and the images provide real photographic memories as the children don't stay young forever.

Is this photograph a candid or a posed image? It was taken as the children played together in the garden, one simple request for a photo nearly brought the two together in a classic, albeit slightly fancy dressed, pose. However as I kept the camera to my eye they quickly got bored and began to entertain themselves again, making a much better image and one that brings back many more childhood memories of the pair.
