Helvellyn summit.

Helvellyn is the third highest mountain in the Lake District,(3250 ft - 980 m). The ascent is usually either attempted from the east of the peak via a long, gentle climb beginning in the Thirlmere Valley or from the north of the peak. A more difficult climb is from the western side of the peak. It remains one of the most admired peaks in Britain and was apparently climbed by Wordsworth when he was 70 years old.

The photograph was taken in February and shows some walkers making the last steps to the summit from Striding Edge, still capped with clouds.

The original slide was scanned into photoshop with only minor adjustments to levels being required.
