Angel - Antony Gormley's Angel of the North, sited at the side of the A1 on the approach to Gateshead from the South. This has quickly become one of the areas most favourite public art works, despite early critisism from locals. I took this image using Black and White negative film and after scanning it into Photoshop gave it a pseudo Infra red treatment and then toned it to further accentuate the dark shadows on the body of the angel. I was slightly disappointed by the one fluffy cloud in the sky at the taking stage, but now realise that its inclusion is vital to the image. Without it I believe the image would be unbalanced but its texture complements the hard metal of the sculpture. Pentax SFXn 35mm SLR, Pentax 70 - 300mm lens. |
